Citadel Paints are Games Workshop’s miniature painting products. “Paint makes Warhammer”. With this text yesterday, Games Workshop unveiled big news for next July related to Citadel paint products.
Citadel paints: the news announced
What are these news related to the new range of Citadel colors, however, it is not known, the release on Warhammer-Community does not report anything, alone the announcement of when these news will arrive but without specifying what it is. Literally, the translation of the short communiqué reads:
“Down here in the Warhammer bunker, we’ve seen many people running around in white coats, clutching mysterious glasses in many shades. This can only mean one thing: Citadel Color Labs have made another twist!”
The phrase “mysterious glasses in many shades” could suggest a version of the “shift” colors already proposed by other houses such as Green Stuff World for example, but it remains to be understood how they could be used and made their own in the lore, given that many colors are designed to reproduce the patterns of the Space Marines legions and characters related to the Warhammer universes. In addition, a vague video was released along with the release that does not make you think for this hypothesis.
In the 3D animation video you can see characters from the world of Warhammer, from the classic gray color of the frames, being stained by “splashes” of color that give them tone and the final color.
New Citadel paints without primer?
This could instead lead to think of a new range of “primer less” colors, meaning that they do not need a primer. This is a hypothesis that could make sense, even if my incompetence on the subject does not allow me to say if it is a feasible possibility. But it is in line with the times, that is, those in which reducing the working time of painting in favor of play has become a priority, as happened with Contrast.
Or an expansion of the Contrast range?
And speaking of Contrast, the other hypothesis is to see for the first time an expansion of the Contrast range with metallic shades. I don’t know how much it makes sense, but there are those who are also waiting for this novelty.
And if it were a renewal of the air range?
Another hypothesis instead is that of a total renewal of the Citadel range of colors for airbrush which currently has “only” 78 colors. Today there are interesting alternatives such as The Army Painter’s AIR range which has 150 shades and a much more comfortable teardrop bottle.
The last hypothesis I would like to make is that of a renewal of the color formula for a higher quality. But I’d rate it 1.15 to steal a betting comparison.
In any case, it will be necessary to wait for new releases because, as mentioned, this announcement suggests everything and nothing. For sure, what we are all waiting for is a renewal of the entire range, perhaps with a radical change in the design of the bottles.
