Will HeroQuest ship to Europe? This is the question that many are asking, yet giving many wrong answers. As we have seen in recent days after the presentation of the new HeroQuest, Hasbro has decided not to go into production immediately, but to use its crowdfounding platform to raise the necessary money BEFORE going into production. If you think about it, it is a business model that facilitates any company, even the largest: no capital investment, but money immediately and production calibrated to the success of the campaign. A win to win that is good for everyone.
But why HeroQuest is not shipped in Europe?
COVID-19 has done damage to the world economy, I’m sure you have noticed that. So many companies are limiting availability and reducing shipments. This also applies to Hasbro which, giant as it is, under normal conditions would have no problem producing and distributing a game on a global scale. This has led to Hasbro’s crowdfounding platform, called HasLab, to ship and run campaigns only to US and Canadian residents. Does this mean that Hasbro has decided to make the game available only for America? NO. Does this mean that we will never see the game in Europe? NO.
This simply means that AT THE MOMENT Hasbro has no way to address overseas campaigns due to the constraints and limitations that the pandemic has produced. And this doesn’t just apply to HeroQuest, but to all HasLab campaigns and products. After all, the platform’s shipping policies apply to every project, not just HeroQuest.
The rights and copyright of HeroQuest
It has also been said that there is a rights issue on HeroQuest and therefore it is not distributed in Europe due to conflicts with Games Workshop, which was a partner in the 1989 project. But this new HeroQuest is a uniquely Hasbro project. On their own website, it is possible to read:
© 2020 Hasbro. All rights reserved. All audio, visual and textual content on this site (including all names, characters, images, trademarks and logos) are protected by trademarks, copyrights and other Intellectual Property rights owned by Hasbro or its subsidiaries, licensors, licensees, suppliers and accounts.
One might think that this applies only to the American market and not the European one, but I find it hard to believe that this is the case. I currently have no official confirmation, although I have attempted to contact Hasbro directly about it. If I have useful information, I will update the article.
When HeroQuest will ship in Europe?
Having said all this then it is clear that it is not HeroQuest that is not distributed worldwide, but it is all the HasLab campaigns that are confined to the American market, at least at the moment. This means that we could not participate in the campaign, but with a little patience HeroQuest will arrive in Europe and definitely localized. At the moment there are no confirmations on the release date, the HasLab campaign will last 45 days, so it will end on November 6. From that day on, the production phase starts and will require the time necessary to fulfill all the orders received. Hasbro itself therefore invites in its Shipping Policies to return to the page to check for updates on the start of shipments. So if we want to make a friendly prediction, I believe that the first HeroQuest arrivals in the homes of those who participated in the campaign, will take place in the first months of next year. American friends are unlikely to have the game for Christmas, but never say never.
After that I am more than certain that they will start with the localization and then the distribution of the base game and its expansions. Wanting to bet on when we will see it on the shelves of our Italian stores … I would venture Christmas 2021. As Europeans, therefore, we will not see the exclusives of the crowdfounding campaign on our market, but nothing (and I repeat NOTHING) suggests that the game is not distributed in ours continent.
What do you think of this whole story? Do you think HeroQuest will be shipped to Europe? And in your opinion when? Let me know in a comment!
