Acererak is one of the most iconic characters in Dungeons & Dragons. Why not make it available for Zombicide as a Necromancer too? After painting the miniature from The Army Painter’s Undead Paint Set, which will be available November 12th, I thought it would be nice to convert this character to CMON’s famous board game. After all, the fantasy setting allows the use of many of the Dungeons & Dragons miniatures in the various Zombicide missions.

Convert Acererak to Zombicide

To do this, I needed two things: create the Acererak card print graphics for Zombicide and define the game characteristics. For the first, it wasn’t difficult, a few hours of work were enough and that’s it. You can download it for free from the link at the bottom of this article, both in Italian and in English.

As for Acererak’s rules for Zombicide, I thought I’d make this character really fearsome and difficult to “take down”, given his importance in the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse.

So I thought of three rules:

  1. Acererak uses the same gameplay as the Necromancer, so he moves one square per turn, but a Walker is placed on the square he leaves.
  2. Acererak is also known as the “Eater of Souls”, which is why he must always be kept at a distance of two squares from the Survivors. If Acererak reaches the space next to a Survivor, the Survivor suffers one hit point.
  3. Acererak can only be killed with the use of combat spells or with Dragonfire (suffering one hit point since it must be thrown at a distance of 1 square).

Not bad right? It will be really difficult to kill him, especially if he makes his appearance in the first few turns of the game …

Below, my video on how to paint Acererak, from Nolzur’s Marvelous Pigments Undead Paint Set by The Army Painter. This set consists of 10 colors, plus the Acererak miniature sprue.
